Hah.  If you want to rescue your data you're in for some fun.  While your data 
is stored in an open format, you're on your own if you want to extract it.  I 
did stumble across this.  I hope it works.

Oh, it looks like kmymoney is able to import my set of accounts from gnucash 
directly.  That is promising.  Oh, nope.  So far I can't get it to do 
anything other than export the catergory list, not transactions.
