As Fred stated, before Hank top posted, Bright House would have to go
underground for hundreds of feet to get to the building, and would
charge $100+ per month, and, as there is a contract in place, the
penalty would add $40 per month prorata, but in a big lump sum.

We should look into the ISDN line issue, and see the viability of that,
which was suggested by Ray. He stated that he has had the Telco run a
new line in order to get service. The stick in the mud is the possible
charges for a 'commercial account'.

Without going into the bookkeeping specifics that are probably a bit of
a private issue, as in any business, there are usually some services
sold as "bundled" with the existing 2 year account contracts, that exist
with three different Telcos right now, that are totally useless
superfluous, and should be cut, or the carrier dropped, upon renewal time.

I am going to coordinate more between the parties, to attain faster
connection for the internet, if it is possible, and will be coordinating
with Phil, also, to try to work it out.

I think I see some trade offs, and also potential savings of up to about
$250 per month upon cessation of some of the current contracts,
and consolidation of the many current redundant telco services.

The high pressure sales forces of three Telcos all 'offered' different
telecom and advertising, and multiple computer access services
seperately in bundles that 'shave' a few dollars here or there.

Why three Telcos? Because as any business evolves, new needs are
revealed, and telcos currently charge lump sums for re-negotiation of
services, or don't offer the exact service needed!

Each of those Telcos were purported to serve the needs at the time, in
different and unique ways, but, seem to be a bit redundant in their
overlap of services, for which they each charge something, even though
they give some small monthly 'discount'.

Perhaps some trimming is due, and some consolidation, and, many of the
service prices have dropped dramatically due to competition in the
marketplace. But, how to avoid penalties, consolidate the fulfillment
of the many needed parts of the communications services, is the crux of
the matter.

This is a very complex issue because it involves at least three Telco
service companies, a business that wants to obtain full services at
thrifty savings, some tough geography of access to the wire
infrastructure, and telcos who are reluctant to serve, unless the
customer tallies up some more money in a lump sum, to cover the
investment in the 'last mile'.

Sorry folks, trying to get just a bit faster DSL service seems to be a
bigger challenge than we thought. Thanks for all of your suggestions
and ideas! Keep them coming!
