Like I mentioned earlier, I know the difference between different types of encryption, and what hashes are for and what they do, but how do I implement these technologies for myself? Tonight I am going to follow the link that John posted in an earlier post and try to get a key. This will be a great topic.

I went here:
http://cryptnet.net/fdp/crypto/keysigning_party/en/keysigning_party.html
and read the text. When I got to Section 4.1, I simply did as instructed.
http://cryptnet.net/fdp/crypto/keysigning_party/en/keysigning_party.html#keypair_generation
I went to the DL site, http://www.gnupg.org/ , grabbed
gnupg.1.4.7.tar.gz and the gnupg.1.4.7.tar.gz.sig files,
and then did as directed to make install and etc.
Running Mepis6.5-64 bit, it has as the latest gnupg, 1.4.2.2 and that is
not secure enough. The update to the later version is imperitive, and
the entire scenerio above took about 8 minutes!
Next, is to grab a USB stick and follow the instructions to create my
signature code keypair, and record it on the USB stick...
So, it sure isn't too difficult to accomplish, and the text is correct.
I think a keysigning at the Install fest would be good, also.
