Sounds like you need the Mouse Jiggler

www.wiebetech.com/products/MouseJiggler.php

This is a small USB stick with a circuit that puts a little
impulse on the mouse bus 2x per second, to keep
the screen saver from ever activating. It is marketed
to forensics examiners, to put into a seized machine
that is the running state, to keep password protected
screen savers from coming on. They cost about $25
and yes I have one (but I got mine at TechnoSecurity
conference in June)

The flip side is that the screen is always lit, so I have
a screen up (using CentOS) with a full sized terminal
window that is all black, that I can switch to.
