[Leaplist] Debian Password

I installed recently installed Debian on a 32 bit machine and it demands 
a "Password" to reenter the programs even if the machine is left alone 
for even a short period of time.
To me this is above and beyond security requirements, in fact if at all 
possible, I do not want to put in my password even on startup ( I 
usually leave my machines on full time).

Guess my question is where is this all happening and how do I remove it 
from the machines action files.  I hesitate removing my name from the 
/etc/shadow file because that may shut me out all together.
