Sun has made a surprising gesture, of promising to put up their patents
as the basis for GNU/Linux against any challenges from Microsoft.

This is a gallant gesture, but, I can see that it is also strategic for
Sun.  I believe that Microsoft will rue software patents within five
years, and then will be calling for their elimination.
