This is typical of what is happening in the world, everyday. 100 over
there, 5,000 over here, California is 40th, Indiana is 39th of the
School Board conversions (by my count), that claim to save a whole lot
of money by dumping Microsoft. I posted those links earlier, and they
are easily found in any search. These might be a bit hidden, so I
forward them here.
Ubuntu takes advantage

| Well, I'm very proud to announce that another Venezuelan institution
| of the government, take our recommendation and then we deploy more of
| 700 HP PCs with Ubuntu and 150 IBM Laptops with Kubuntu.

Microsoft is not worries because the PCs came with Windows preinstalled, so
no apparent (and perceived) market share was lost.
Recent:
The French Parliament switches to Ubuntu
,----[ Quote ]
| The French Parliament looks to be the next big Ubuntu switcher according to
| reports. Recently the Parliament produced an official government report
| that recommended the use of free software over proprietary software. The
| switch to free software is expected to provide a substantial savings to the
| tax-payers according to the government study.

End Quote from Usenet, Alt.Linux.Advocasy
Plus, common to all mainboards is that the old BIOS are more and more
proprietary, and locked into the Microsloppy warp of un-reality, through
those locked in features, forced upon us, via proprietary BIOS from Ami,
Phoenix, Award... multiple convicted felon thief Pirate Monopolist
Microsoft continues the same evil tactics to wrangle their market share
to be larger than otherwise would through legal competition.
I do not care to deal with convicted felons, as they tarnish the
reputation of all who use their broken products. It is a continuing
struggle to combat the embedded forces for evil. The public is voting
with their choices, worldwide, and much of the naive user market are
finally going for Open Source products.
What I am interested in, recently, is the Open Source or GNU Free BIOS
for modern computers: http://sourceforge.net/projects/freebios/
or, OpenBIOS : http://www.openbios.info/Welcome_to_OpenBIOS
and, LinuxBIOS: http://linuxbios.org/Welcome_to_LinuxBIOS (Would you
believe 1 million users, as of 04-22-2005?).
plus, Das U-Boot project: http://sourceforge.net/projects/u-boot
