relook at DELL.. the model 1520 notebook is 599 with MS Vista installed.. it 
is 699 with freedos installed..  with the exact same options.. 
The difference, with vista you must get the model 1520 with one gb of memory 
installed installed and you get it with 1gb for 599.. 
if you get the freedos model with 1gb its 699.. its an upgrade from the 512gib 
model..  you need to truely compare the offerings.. go figure.. it just isn't 
right.. I got no use for them..
