[Leaplist] Inexpensive ISP/Domain for e-mail

The widow of a retired Air Force officer, who goes to my church, has 
been having troubles with her ancient Windows machine.  She has limited 
financial resources and is paying for an AT&T modem connection as well 
as AOL. I have not looked at her set up yet but she is quite unhappy 
with what she has, whatever :).

Her grown children are in California and of no help.  Given that,  I 
plan on putting a network card into her machine so that I can get an 
Embarqe DSL installed at her home. I will also be loading Ubuntu into 
the macnine and checking it out for any visable problems.

Would some of you list the most inexpensive (free if possible) Domains 
on the net that she might use?  Getting her out of the clutches of AT&T 
and AOL will hopefully save her quite a bit.
