I don't use GMail (though I do have an account I use for emergency backup).  
For me, the main con is lack of IMAP access.  (I'm sorry, but POP is a joke 
of a protocol, while IMAP lets both the server *and* your local client *and* 
any other client you configure, see all your e-mail folders.)  Of course, 
this may not be a problem for many.
