Interesting, but my big system ran Kubuntu 5.10 just fine with the 
current jumper settings (until it did a nice imitation of the BSOD).

No, I've been in hospital the past two days. Perhaps tomorrow I'll be up 
to crawling under the desk again.

No worries, it was diagnostic and I came through with a clean bill of 
health and a somewhat less clean bill for payment.
