[Leaplist] Daisy chaining network switches

I have heard that the limit is 7 as long as you are using full duplex, but I
don't know where I heard that. That is based on using a port-to-port link,
not using a trunking or uplink port. I would assume that the limit is due to
the increased latency causing collisions, but that is just a guess. I have
had 5 Cisco switches (1924's) daisy chained together running stp and didn't
have any problems at all.

Subject: [Leaplist] Daisy chaining network switches

I've googled this question several different ways and have not found a
good answer. Do any of the network gurus on the list know how many
switches can be daisy chained together before the network starts having
problems? Are the rules for changing 10/100 switches different than
1000 switches?

TIA

Tony
