[Leaplist] advice on wifi router please

Very true. I am flashing mine more to play with it rather than get better performance. I am currently looking at Tomato firmware www.polarcloud.com.
It looks like it provides the standard wifi functions but adds the ability to tweak ACLs, audit and regulate bandwidth on a per-user basis, and viewing neighboring Wi-Fi signals. Now I do not need any of these features, but it seems like a pretty interesting thing to check out. It only works on Version 1 thru 4. FreeWRT spans to version 8, and will support WRT-54L.

Uhhh....

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16833124190

$63, $10 mail in rebate ($53), plus free shipping.

Flashing the firmware doesn't do a whole lot for the average user of a WiFi device, anyway. Sure, you can play with the power on the device, but much beyond that and it's not a whole lot more useful to most people.
