[Leaplist] Floppy problem in Lenny - Debian-JohnK

Hey John,
I wondered the same thing to some degree but I've not had a hiccup using
W95/W98/WXP to read/write to the Sony formatted disks. I can format
using any of the above Windows OS's and use them in the Sony camera,
too. There isn't any problem at all between the Sony camera and Windows
OS's and floppies. I have tried the Sony formatted disks in this WXP
setup and it works fine but Linux upchucks immediately. Same w. WXP
formatted disks. And I can't even format a DOS format using my Linux
setup. It's just hosed as to the floppy setup for some reason. I'm
guessing it is the kernel/module setup but of course don't know for
sure. I've had no problems with this BIOS at all. And the mobo is ony
about a year old and a Sempron chip so it's up to date.

When I've just formatted a couple of disks using WXP and then rebooted
to Linux and try to read or even re-format, it tells me that it is not a
DOS floppy or can't find block 0 or some other such nonsense. It's
aggravating, darn it. And that's either using the kfloppy Gui or the CLI.

But thanks for your interest, John.

Whit
