Now, I will object to the critique you have of Mac OS, and I have 4 
boxes running OS9.2.1 or .2, really sweet.
You see, the Mac OS is integrated for the cpu and chipset.  So, with the 
newer and free browsers. they really run very well, without any flaws.

I like it that Apple.com has all the legasy info, back to the first machine.

I like it not that everything is closed source and secretive, as I could 
repair these machines at the component level, but, often, I have to 
reverse engineer the board traces and draw out the circuits in long 
hand, to trouble shoot. 

Well, tons of older machines are available, free, or very cheap.
