I am impressed by the genius of it all.  With secure back up in hand, 
all other forms of DRM would seem stupid, and all of the sheeple would 
shy away, thus killing DRM!  Of course, he could license his version to 
the closed source people, with the announcement thereof, plus, make it a 
note in all FOSS that we do not do DRM even if we did patent the RIGHT 
way to DRM!  There are a lot more scenarios, all win-win, for Cox, and 
for FOSS!
