Yes.
In the Install Fest, Greg has a VIA chip board, with a AMD X2 cpu.
When we ran older DSL 3.2, and Knoppix 3.4 Distros, that used XFree86,
it all ran live, plus, installed good.
The newer FC, PCLinuxOS, Kubuntu 6.0.6, Ubuntu 6.0.6 all failed.
So, does your board run VIA chips for the NorthBridge and/or onboard
Video?
I suspect there is a problem with some proprietary chipsets that are not
yet reverse engineered. Anyone have any other insight?
I would run the slightly older stuff, and not update, or else buy
something that is on the tested hardware list for Linux.
