Hi Guys.
I'm having some issues setting up a software RAID on a Debian Etch box:
Hardware:
SUN FIRE V40z
Phoenix ServerBIOS 3 Release 6.0
Production RELEASE: System BIOS Revision = V2.34.4.2
SP Interface (PRS) Revision = 12
2 x AMD Opteron 850
5 x 300GB SCSI
LSI Logic Corp. MPT IME BIOS
MPTBIOS-IME-5.10.02.04
HBA ID LUN VENDOR PRODUCT REV SYNC WIDE CAPACITY
--- -- --- -------- ---------------- -------- ----- ---- ------------
0 0 0 FUJITSU MAW3300NCSUN300G 1703 320.0 16 300019 MB
0 1 0 SEAGATE ST330000LSUN300G 045A 320.0 16 300019 MB
0 2 0 SEAGATE ST330000LSUN300G 045A 320.0 16 300019 MB
0 3 0 FUJITSU MAW3300NCSUN300G 1703 320.0 16 300019 MB
0 4 0 SEAGATE ST330000LSUN300G 045A 320.0 16 300019 MB
0 6 0 SDR GEM318P 1
0 7 0 LSILogic LSI1030[ 402] 1032920 320.0 16
No RAID is configured in the LSI BIOS.
I'm doing a netinstall, tftp booting from a Debian amd64 image. The
install is being performed remotely via the Service Processor, serial
redirected.
The install goes fine until I get to the part where I partition the disks.
Note the following screenshot:
SCSI1 (0,0,0) (sda) - 300.0 GB FUJITSU MAW3300NCSUN300G
> 300.0 GB FREE SPACE
SCSI1 (0,1,0) (sdb) - 300.0 GB SEAGATE ST330000LSUN300G
> 300.0 GB FREE SPACE
SCSI1 (0,2,0) (sdc) - 300.0 GB SEAGATE ST330000LSUN300G
> pri/log 300.0 GB FREE SPACE
SCSI1 (0,3,0) (sdd) - 300.0 GB FUJITSU MAW3300NCSUN300G
> 300.0 GB FREE SPACE
SCSI1 (0,4,0) (sde) - 300.0 GB SEAGATE ST330000LSUN300G
> pri/log 300.0 GB FREE SPACE
Now, sda, sdb and sdd all show '300.0 GB FREE SPACE' whereas sdc and sde
show 'pri/log 300.0 GB FREE SPACE'. This would normally be corrected by
selecting the drive and creating a new partition table. I can do this on
sdc and sde, but if I try this on the other three drives it just kicks me
back to the above screen.
If I select sda, sdb or sdd to set up a RAID partition, it does not give
me the option. However, sdc and sde do.
I've GTFW and not found anything.
Any pointers to fixing this? I need this box running ASAP...
Regards,
Ozz.
