It's not a good idea to mix Ubuntu and regular Debian unless you know
what you're doing and are confident you can undo any resulting mess.
There are some packages that will merge just fine, but others are
customized for Ubuntu and could cause issues.
I've played with Kubuntu a little (I prefer it to Ubuntu as I hate
Gnome [no GUI wars please]) and the latest official Kubuntu is Edgy
Eft. That is pretty close to Debian Etch, but from what I've heard,
it's not worth the upgrade from Dapper to Edgy unless you really need a
special feature.
