Why is it discouraging?

New linux users would have to find his page amongst the billions of pages out 
there. How are they going to find the needle in the haystack when they don't 
even know the needle exists?

Personally, I feel that the Linux Counter site is inconsequential. We know 
that there are millions of computers running Linux. The site has failed to 
penetrate the mainstream. Even if a person does update his information, it 
provides no benefit.
