There have been discussions concerning the wattage used when running our
computers, like if GNU/Linux systems are really "Green", or what UPS to
get.

To avoid speculation, you should just plug in a Kill-A-Watt digital
monitor, that holds a huge history in it's memory banks!

Were offered at Radio Shack for a bit more, in 2004, then dropped from
the inventory.

They are now sold at

plus the two locations in Orlando and Casselberry.

This will let you know how little AC power your GNU/Linux computer
system really needs to run 24/7/365.

I have noticed lots less failures of hardware, by just leaving the
systems running. I figure that the internet cable modem, cable TV box,
three TVs on standby, one firewall, three routers, one KVM, 12 UPSs, and
three computers that are up all the time, (I do shut off monitors,
TVsets will be in Standby mode, monitors will actually be OFF), cost me
about $10 to $25 per month, which is a bit less than what it used to
cost to replace hardware and entertainment equipment, due to power
fluctuations and the stress of thermal shock.

The entertainment and hobby costs something, of course.
