[Leaplist] CentOS 4.4 problem (???) ....

I have a 2.4 GHz P4 running CentOS 4.4, box stock off the DVD, as follows:

It crashed this A.M. with the attached output. I googled the 1st line of the error message & got ~25 hits, including 1 (the 1st one) describing my situation almost exactly (2.4 GHz P4, CentOS 4.4, but he was running a RAID, I'm not), as well as several on other machines, including various AMD64's. The problem *seems* to be a kernel problem, with SMP (real or logical) processors of any manufacture. Is this an ongoing problem in the 2.6 series of kernels ? CentOS 4.5 is due out shortly, does anyone know if this is fixed in the newer version ? TIA ....
