KMail keeps it's IMAP metadata in ~/.kde/share/apps/kmail/imap. There's a
.NNNNNNN.directory/ for each IMAP account with files like FOLDER,
.FOLDER.directory, .FOLDER.index, .FOLDER.ids and .FOLDER.index.sorted. I
suspect that one or more of these got toasted on the client you're having
problems with. If you remove the set of files related to the folder with the
problem, it will rebuild them the next time you connect.
