Don't be so hard on yourself.  After all, there are a great
many professional Windows Administrators who don't know how
WINS name resolution works...  It's not simple and even if
you've read everything possible you'll still learn more as
you apply things to your LAN.

Nobody can know everything all the time.  Anytime it seems
like someone knows everything it most likely took them years
to get there.

I knew "cut" was old... So old even Google forgot about it!
(I've used it on 20-something year old UNIX machines.)
