[Leaplist] Brighthouse or Embarq?

I have direct experience with both of your options. I need to say up front
that my experience with Bright House is with both commercial service and
residential. My Embarq experience is with commercial only.
I have Bright House at my home, and I love them. There was a problem with
connection stability when I first got them, but they came out and found a
problem with one of their amps, and I have never had any problems since.
When downloading from un-throttled servers, I am downloading between 6 MBps
and 7.5 MBps. I am not sure what my upload is, but it never gets in the way,
and I am not hosting any services, so I don't really care. The only thing
with Bright House that I can say is a negative for me is that they do not
offer a static IP address with their residential service. I have a free
dyn-dns address, so I get around that issue without any problems.
As for Embarq, we used to have 5 clients who had Sprint before they went to
Embarq. After Embarq moved in, their connections started dropping
immediately, or would hang requiring a browser restart. We changed dns
settings numerous times using various stable dns servers, but that didn't
change. Embarq always denied it was their problem. All but one of our
clients have dumped Embarq and gone with other services. The one that hasn't
moved yet is scheduled to switch to Bright House commercial in early
January.
Hope this helps, welcome to the 21st century ;-)

Subject: [Leaplist] Brighthouse or Embarq?
Hi all,
After over 12 years on dialup, the time has come to go high speed. My local
phone company is Embarq, and my local cable company is Brighthouse. I don't
currently have cable TV, nor do I want cable TV, which would just cause me
and the rest of my family to waste time.
Do any of you have experience, good bad or indifferent, with either
Brighthouse of Embarq? If so, I'm dying to hear about it before selecting
which way to go.
I'm subscribed to all three of these lists, so I'll see your replies.
Thanks
