some mail programs, such as "Mail.app" on OSX, don't handle URLs as
literal text... because some mail transports wrap text without
realizing that a URL shouldn't be split, some mail programs try to be
nice to the user and undo the damage by counting the next line as a
continuation of the URL. of course, if the next line is blank, it
doesn't do this.
so when i clicked on the link above, the mail program sent a URL
containing "on-linux/________" to the web browser.
please make sure, if you're going to send a URL like this, include a
few blank lines after it, so that the list's "_____" footer separator
doesn't accidentally "become" part of the URL.
