HPIII dated??!!! Never! They never die. Get an HPIII and an IBM
Model M keyboard, and you're set for life.

Seriously, though, the cartridges almost always contain a fresh
photo-drum, and it does seem like the magic leaks off the drum
after a while. I've not refilled them, but I've bought some questionable
refills where the drum was not replaced, and was far from satisfied.

Rather than buying cartridges to scavenge, if you're going to try
this experiment, is it still possible to get plain old bulk copy toner?
As long as it's not the kind that requires a "developer" or "fixer"
I would think you could get there cheaply via that route. And probably
a bit more neatly, too, unless you plan on looking like a coal miner
after wrestling around with the donor cartridges.

By the by - HPIIIs never die - but their rubber does go wonky after
so many years and needs a new feed/drive kit - does anyone know
a reputable rebuilder in the o-town area who's done satisfactory
work on their machine? Even though my old III has been responsible
for two hernias and several ruptured disks, I still love it, and I'd
like to keep her going for another couple of decades.

Cheers,

Chris
