This produces entries in:
* syslog
* messages
* kern.log

Results for [syslog] are a repeated series, the last of which is:

Apr 21 20:40:37 localhost kernel: [5227817.338000] atkbd.c: Unknown key
pressed
Apr 21 20:40:37 localhost kernel: [5227817.338000] atkbd.c: Use
'setkeycodes e02
Apr 21 20:40:37 localhost kernel: [5227817.433000] atkbd.c: Unknown key
released
Apr 21 20:40:37 localhost kernel: [5227817.433000] atkbd.c: Use
'setkeycodes e02

The results for [messages] and [kern.log] are pretty much the same, with
the addition to odd numbered lines of:
... (translated set 2, code 0xaa on isa0060/serio0)

Okay, so what do I know now?
