Dan I don't know about port 25 but I will this Thursday thats when my
install is scheduled. They have a home networking option, but from what
I can tell, they provide a wireless router if you pay the additional.
My plans is to use the standard ipcop configuration I have used for
years. I didn't ask about the static IP address as I use dyndns, which
has worked wonderful for years. Adelphia was sold down the river to
Concast several months ago. Two weeks ago on Saturday night my service
went dark. I called after a couple of hours to have an additional 1
hour wait. At that time I was told they were doing a massive conversion
(adelphia internet to comcrap internet) and service would be restored by
8am the next day. at 10am on Sunday I called to ask what the delay
was. The guy on the phone told me.. "I don't know who told you 8am
TODAY" the planned outage is till 8AM Tuesday morning.. So they
planned a 4 day outage with not so much as a thimble full of concern for
their customers.. Well service returned around 3pm Monday. Since that
time I have lost service about 10 times per day. Forget about calling
them it is the "lets see who's batteries die first". With no
exaggeration with this weekend being the exception they have been down
more than they have been up. This morning was the end.. called and
ordered roadrunner. For those who remember I dumped bellsouth the day
after their president of IT announced they were applying to the FCC to
allow tiered internet. Dan I applaud you dumping them. They are just
too greedy. They were the ones that told Google they would have to "pay
for service" or access to their severs would be degraded. To which
google responded with "eat shit" So lets see, they charge me as my
provider, then they want google to pay them or I won't get what I am
already paying for.. "halt".. instant no more Bellsouth.. net
neutrality reins as far as I concerned. Fred
