Welcome back to Big Bell.

Running a junker D-Link DI-524, although until lightning bit it,
the router was an old Compaq PC running OpenBSD. No problems
with either.

No ports blocked - at least on their fixed IP service, which is
what I have.

No. I think the cheapest fixed-IP you can get is their "Home Office"
package, which runs about $70 (or so). But you don't get reverse
DNS with that, so you'll need to use DynDNS or some such.

You're NATted - won't matter.

Not usually. After the hurricanes, there was about a three-
month period where there was a line problem, and they
kept wasting my time sending out resdential techs - who
can't do anything about the line. To be fair, it was an intermittent
problem, making it harder to catch, and they were quite fair
about adjusting my bill.

Other than that, uptime has been excellent, and when one
of their modems failed (not a critical failure by the way,
I have a four-port commercial modem, and one of the ports
went bad) they replaced it the same day.

And the speed is nice - at least when the other end is equally
fast.

Cheers,

Chris
