[Leaplist] There's not enough time to do it right, but there's enough time to do it over?!?!?!

I'm really tired of the attitude "there's not enough time to do it
right" but then someone turns around later and basically ends up doing
it over. WTF?

My documentation goes in an open standard. I then convert as
necessary to any Hostageware. That's when I'm the originator.

When I'm not the originator, any documentation I edit gets
simultaneously done in an open standard. Yes, it adds 10-20% of my
time. Oh well, it's worth it!

When I write anything, I don't like to "hack" at it. I like to write
something once, *CORRECTLY*. Whether it's documentation, integration,
network configuration, software, scripts or anything else, it's worth
the bother to "do it right."

How many times have you guys cursed yourself because you've lost your
work from years ago, or you keep hacking at something that wasn't done
right?

Maybe I'm just fsck'd up, but I can't live in the world "There's not
enough time to do it right, but there's enough time to do it over." I
guess that's why when I bill by the hour, my clients consider it well
spent and not "overhead" and they call me back again and again or
extend my contracts (and not because of any "busy work" I've given
myself).
