[Leaplist] DD data from one drive to an other

I have an older IDE drive in my debian server (NFS server that is also
my old game box) that is on its last leg. I can only keep the computer
on for a few hours, if even that long, before it starts to make all
kinds of crazy noises. It is an 80G drive with a fair amount of data on
it that I would like to move to a new sATA drive. Sadly I only have 2
sATA ports on my MB and both are in use. I was thinking about using a
live CD, removing the OS drive before i start up with the live CD, then
doing some kind of DD or something to copy over 100% of the data as is.

I will figure out how to get the data off so i can access it again
later, but really need to back it up somehow soon. links, tips,
directions desired.

many thanks, and happy new years a little early.
