Leap,
Most of you don't know me but I've been to a couple of the meetings over the
years and to a recent installfest. I'm a novice web designer with a small
web based t-shirt company. (www.cottoncampus.com)
We built Cotton Campus 1.0 in Cold Fusion and are interested in rebuilding
Cotton Campus 2.0 on a LAMP platform. (Linux, Apache, MySQL,
PHP/Python/Perl)
The business model is: We host t-shirt design contests for schools and
through this we provide an out of the box fundraising solution that teaches
kids about designing their own content, promoting causes they care about,
and all the money goes to a good cause.
We make our money through printing and shipping the t-shirts once the
contest is completed. I mentioned this business to a few of you at the last
installfest and was encouraged by your helpful advice.
We just found out that one of our old contacts is interested in doing a
state wide fundraiser in Michigan and so we need to move up the rebuild
sooner that we thought.
If anyone is interested in helping us out on this, we would be very
appreciative and willing to discuss various methods of compensation. Or we
can try to make this an open source, socially entrepreneurial experiment.
What better way to get young people excited about design, then providing
them with tools to raise money for their own causes and wear the products
they create.
So, if you have experience with web design, Server-side programming,
Client-side programming, Paypal integration, or are just interested in
participating in the ground floor stage of entrepreneurship, Please let me
know.
