I also wanted to suggest "Member Potlucks" also help draw others. 
Volunteering and providing charity always goes a long way, especially
when you do it broadly, from food to knowledge.

About the only thing we'd want to ensure is that at least three (3)
people always bring drinks (if not 5-6, to ensure at least 2 show up
with some, statistically).  A rotation is always idea to distribute
the load over the year -- with no member being required more than
three times per year (would take 20-24 members on the rotation, every
4th month).
