From jms1 at jms1.net Tue Apr 15 20:23:19 2008 From: jms1 at jms1.net (John Simpson) Date: Tue Apr 15 20:23:31 2008 Subject: [LeapBusiness] LEAP server email issue Message-ID: <8794A1F7-50B1-4ECF-899F-8F5B1CDE41E1@jms1.net> -----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 howdy all- phil is out of town, i'm one of the people who are babysitting the server in his absence. (my specialty is the mail server software, the kludged-up version of qmail used by plesk, but not the mailing list software, mailman.) there was an "issue" with the LEAP server... something went badly wrong, the queue ended up containing over 600,000 messages, and the flaky version of qmail used by plesk apparently doesn't know how to handle that much mail all at once. rather than take two days to look at all of the messages and try to figure out what actually went wrong, i deleted the entire queue. (if you're curious, it took 22 minutes to delete 4.3GB of mail.) (and yes, it was even more fun than rebooting the firewall in the middle of an installfest.) so if you've sent anything through the lists and haven't seen it by now, you should probably send it again. - -------------------------------------------------------- | John M.
